Bernard Unti Donates and Endows an Important Animal Studies Collection to the Libraries

Unti, who is the senior principal strategist in communications for the Humane Society of the United States, has donated a massive trove of materials to the NC State University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center — collected through his lifelong devotion to animal protection — to form the Bernard Unti Book and Ephemera Collection on Animal Studies. Unti has also committed to endowing the collection with a financial gift to the Libraries.

2022 Chancellor’s Fall Address

Chancellor Randy Woodson will deliver his annual fall address on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. from the floor of Talley Student Union, with the entire campus invited to attend. In this year’s address, the chancellor is expected to highlight the individual and collective achievements of the NC State community — including how private support continues to help us Think and Do.

Following in the footsteps of an NC State pioneer, Dr. Thomas Schaefer has built his extensive physics career in Raleigh. Since Schaefer was named the Wesley O. Doggett Distinguished Professor for the Department of Physics in 2018, private support has given him greater flexibility to Think and Do.

Engineering Alumni Establish New Endowment for Caldwell Fellows Program

Allison Anderson ’05 ’07 and David Anderson ’05 met during their time in the Caldwell Fellows Program. The program made such a significant impact on their lives that they have decided to establish a new named fund that will honor their time there as well as benefit other students.

IEI Receives Endowment Gift to Support Hunt Internship

NC State’s Institute for Emerging Issues has received a gift from former Gov. James B. Hunt, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, establishing an endowment that will continue to fund the institute’s Hunt Internship. The Hunt Internship gives an undergraduate NC State student the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public policy by working with North Carolinians to address new issues and solve problems facing the state.

Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign Helps the Libraries Expand Endowments, Scholarships

The NC State University Libraries raised more than $25.8 million through the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign, exceeding its goal of $22 million by over 17%. Thanks to donors, the campaign’s success translates into student success, as the Libraries serves every NC State student through its services, spaces, collections, programs and scholarships.

Libraries Gifted With New Endowments on Day of Giving

Donors to the NC State Libraries were particularly generous and thoughtful on March 24. The Libraries exceeded its previous two years of Day of Giving efforts combined, bringing in $1,491,566 from 217 gifts. Two new scholarship endowments were created, two new collections endowments were established and sizable increases were made to the Student Resource Fund, among many other successes.
