Alumna’s Experiences in Poole College Inspire Leadership Across Generations
Through her experiences in the Caldwell Fellows program and at Poole College of Management, Raven Solomon developed the leadership skills needed to pivot to a successful career as a speaker. Solomon continues to stay involved with NC State through workshops and speaking engagements focused on generational dynamics in the workplace and soft skills development.
Alums Encourage Using Stimulus Checks to Help Others
Recognizing that some people receiving federal stimulus checks don’t need that money to make ends meet, 2013 NC State graduate Kevin Miller wondered if there was a smart way to encourage people to give some of it to a worthy cause. So Miller teamed up with a handful of other alums, many of them Caldwell Fellows like him, to launch a website to make it easy for people to contribute to nonprofits helping those struggling as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Caldwell Fellows Program Introduces Its Class of 2023
Twenty-eight first-year NC State students have been selected to join the program, which builds on the legacy of longtime Chancellor John T. Caldwell and invests in students who share a passion to learn, grow and serve others. The donor-supported Caldwell program is designed to maximize the college experience by providing intensive programming and leadership training, as well as by fostering collaborative interaction with alumni, faculty and community partners.

Creating a Lasting Legacy to the College of Design
Bill Dove, a 1956 graduate of NC State's College of Design, has contributed expansively to the profession of architecture and to his alma mater. A member of the W. C. Riddick and R. S. Pullen giving societies, he has given generously to programs including Caldwell Fellows. In 1999, Dove received an award for service from the Alumni Association for his legacy of voluntarism.
Student Transforms Fallen Leaves into Breathtaking Artwork
Meet Katie Brooks, a senior in the Art + Design program at the NC State College of Design with a minor in arts entrepreneurship through the Department of Music. Brooks, also a Caldwell Fellow, regularly uses all kinds of leaves as her artistic canvas. A tree on campus by Park Shops first inspired her to pick up a leaf to paint.

Layne Baker, a first-generation college student from rural North Carolina graduating in December, used his time at NC State and in the Caldwell Fellows program to show others in a similar situation that college is attainable for them as well.
