Two Faculty Win Holladay Medal

The Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence was named in honor of NC State’s first professor of history and its first president. This year’s recipients are Drexel Professor Jerzy Bernholc, from the Department of Physics, and Mary Haskett, a professor in the Department of Psychology who is also known as a fierce advocate for under-resourced students.

NC State University Foundation Honors 2022 Godwin, Menscer Winners

Two couples were recently recognized for their generosity, commitment and service to the Wolfpack — Dewayne and Adama Washington with the Godwin Award and Fred and Barbara Wilson with the Menscer Cup.

Billy Johnson Named 2022 Distinguished Alumnus

Billy Johnson is a champion of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences who actively engages in its growth and impact and gives back to his beloved Wolfpack. Because of his accomplishments and engagement, NC State recently named Johnson the 2022 Humanities and Social Sciences Distinguished Alumnus at the annual Alumni Association Evening of Stars Gala.

College of Sciences Honors Outstanding Alumni and Student Achievements With 2022 Awards

The College of Sciences has recognized three alumni and two students with its annual awards for outstanding achievements and contributions. Among them is Dean Bunce ’86, recipient of the Zenith Medal for Service, whose advocacy throughout the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign and his service on the College of Sciences Foundation Board of Directors played a vital role in the college’s campaign success.

Park Class of 2023 Nominates Molly Barker for the 24th Annual William C. Friday Award

Molly Barker is an educator, triathlete, author and social visionary, as well as the founder of two nonprofit organizations. Nominated by the Park Scholarships program’s class of 2023 for her commitment to unraveling limiting cultural and societal stereotypes about gender, Barker will be presented with the William C. Friday Award on October 27 at 5:30 p.m. in Talley Student Union’s Piedmont Ballroom. 

Taleek Harlee, Sarah Hall, Niambé James and Patsy McKee are the 2022 Mathews Medal recipients.

Four Students Receive Mathews Medals

As the highest non-academic distinction awarded to NC State students, the Mathews Medal honors graduating seniors who have served as student leaders and made significant contributions to the advancement of the university. The 2021-22 award recipients included two Goodnight Scholars.

Park Scholarships Class of 2021 Will Present William C. Friday Award to Bree Newsome Bass

Bree Newsome Bass, from Charlotte, is an artist, filmmaker, and antiracist activist, housing rights advocate and field organizer who provides aid to under-resourced communities. The presentation of the William C. Friday Award, which will be held over Zoom on Aug. 22, is open to the public.

2019-20 University Teaching Awards Announced

NC State has honored more than 30 faculty for their commitment to educational excellence with the 2019-20 University Teaching Awards, including the UNC Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Gertrude Cox Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching and Learning with Technology and the Alumni Association's Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award.

Meet the 2020 Mathews Medal Winners

NC State's highest nonacademic distinction for students, the Mathews Medal, recognizes graduating seniors who will leave the university a better place because of their service, commitment and leadership. This year's medalists are Resident Adviser Council founder Kevin Hogan, Alumni Association Student Ambassador Program president Mary Kate Morgan, NC State's NAACP chapter president Malasia McClendon and Feed the Pack executive director Jayna Lennon.
