Stowe Leads Soybean Research, WolfPack Alumni and Two Budding Farmers

CALS alumna Katherine Drake Stowe has turned her interest in plant breeding into a career as the first director of the nonprofit U.S. Soybean Research Collaborative. She also serves as president of the NC State Alumni Association and volunteers with NC State’s Caldwell Fellows and SATELLITE Camp, a STEM high school outreach program led by Caldwell.

Mahone to Lead NC State Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving

A higher education professional with a track record of success, innovation and inclusion, Reshunda Mahone will join NC State in August as the new associate vice chancellor for alumni engagement and annual giving. In a higher education career spanning more than two decades, Mahone has continually exceeded goals — and expectations — by increasing alumni engagement, overall giving and efficiency at each of her previous institutions. She currently serves as assistant dean for advancement and alumni engagement for the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

A Sign-Off Full of NC State Spirit

Benny Suggs ’69 is retiring after leading the Alumni Association for more than a decade. Under his tenure, life memberships have quadrupled, support for the Caldwell Fellows program has increased and the organization has won numerous awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Originally formed to connect members to their alma mater, the Black Alumni Society has grown into a tight-knit group linking past, present and future Black NC State students. Seeing the opportunities that arise and the difference they’re able to make in students’ lives through the society has also given the members a new outlook on philanthropy.

Prashant Prabhu Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

Prashant Prabhu’s decision to move to the United States from India for his graduate education culminated in two degrees from the Wilson College of Textiles and a 35-year career with the Michelin Group. Now a mentor and generous supporter of the college, Prabhu was recently recognized with this year’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.
