NC State University’s Board of Trustees has approved two new naming opportunities within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences: the Peanut Breeding Program and the Certified SweetPotato Greenhouses. NC State’s peanut breeding program is among the top five in the United States and has been instrumental in the International Peanut Genome Initiative. The program provides essential research and support for the peanut producers in the Southeast, and the naming gift will be directed into an endowment to provide unrestricted support for the program. The Certified SweetPotato Greenhouses is a complex of four greenhouses providing more than 10,000 square feet of growing space for sweet potatoes. Five naming opportunities within the greenhouses will support the complex’s upgrades and maintenance.
