Trustees Approve CALS Naming Opportunities
NC State University’s Board of Trustees has approved two new naming opportunities within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences: the Peanut Breeding Program and the Certified SweetPotato Greenhouses. NC State’s peanut breeding program is among the top five in the United States and has been instrumental in the International Peanut Genome Initiative. The program provides essential research and support for the peanut producers in the Southeast, and the naming gift will be directed into an endowment to provide unrestricted support for the program. The Certified SweetPotato Greenhouses is a complex of four greenhouses providing more than 10,000 square feet of growing space for sweet potatoes. Five naming opportunities within the greenhouses will support the complex’s upgrades and maintenance.

NC State University Foundation approves grants for numerous groups on campus
The NC State University Foundation approved 10 grants in June for numerous colleges and units across campus. Grants will help the College of Education train future teachers and the College of Design study the effects of climate change on our coastlines. In total, the Foundation awarded $140,000 in grants to the following colleges and units:

- College of Design: Coastal Dynamics Design Lab
- College of Design: 2020 Venice Biennale
- Poole College of Management: Leadership and Innovation Showcase
- Poole College of Management: Entrepreneurship Clinic

- NC State Libraries: Dataspace for Big Data Computing
- College of Education: Leadership Institute for Future Teachers

Trustees approve naming opportunities at Gregg Museum, Plant Sciences Building
NC State University’s Board of Trustees has approved multiple naming opportunities for spaces at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design and the NC Plant Sciences Building. At the museum, donors have the chance to name the front pathway, with gifts directed into the Gregg Museum Enhancement Fund. On Centennial Campus, where construction on the NC Plant Sciences Building is underway, donors can name a number of exterior features. Gifts will support capital project costs for the building, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2021. Trustees approve naming opportunities at Bureau of Mines, Frank Thompson Hall
NC State University’s Board of Trustees has approved naming opportunities for spaces in the Bureau of Mines and Frank Thompson Hall. Within the Bureau of Mines building, which is set to undergo significant renovations to accommodate College of Sciences leadership and administrative offices, donors can name as many as 14 spaces. Gifts will be directed into an unrestricted endowment to be used at the discretion of the Dean of the College of Sciences. Donors can also name two spaces within the Frank Thompson Hall Crafts Center. Funds will be directed into the Crafts Center Enhancement Fund to support the center’s ongoing programs.
