In Memoriam: Bob Jordan

Alumnus Bob Jordan, who served North Carolina as a public official and business leader, died earlier this month. Jordan is remembered for his unwavering support of NC State for more than 60 years. He was a member and chair of the university’s Board of Trustees, among other roles, and his service and philanthropy earned him two of NC State's top honors: the Watauga Medal, for service, and the Menscer Cup, for philanthropy.

The Gift of Opportunity for NC State Students

When Connie Carson arrived at NC State as a first-generation college student, student affairs programs and intramural sports provided her with the community she needed to succeed. Through a generous planned gift and annual giving contributions to establish the Connie L. Carson Student Experience Fund and further strengthen the Wolfpack Club's Student-Athlete Engagement And Leadership Fund, Carson is ensuring future first-year students find their place in the Pack.

Annable Scholarship Brings a Dream Within Reach

The Annable Scholarship is helping veterinary student and mother Samantha Zurlinden pursue her dreams of bettering the lives of shelter animals. Established with a gift from Ross and Michele Annable and matched by the R.B. Terry Charitable Foundation, the scholarship provides need-based support and encourages recipients to volunteer to serve animals in their communities.

Stefanski Named Chair of AAAS Statistics Section

Leonard Stefanski, head of NC State’s Department of Statistics and the R.A. Fisher Distinguished Professor of Statistics, was recently elected as chair of the statistics section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Stefanski has been on the NC State faculty since 1986 and is well known for his work in measurement error modeling.

Partner Profile: NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission

Former president of the CALS Alumni and Friends Society William Upchurch Jr. discusses the partnership between the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The commission has helped support numerous projects at the college, including creating skills courses in community colleges to enhancing local farmers markets and developing the greenhouse vegetable industry.

In Memoriam: Charlie Coe

Charles K. Coe, professor emeritus of public administration and an outstanding member of NC State's faculty for 28 years, passed away Feb. 5. He and his wife Marty felt strongly about supporting faculty research and graduate students. They created a bequest to enhance research within the School of Public and International Affairs.
