Empowering a Global Perspective

Mary Ann Danowitz, dean of NC State’s College of Education, has established a study abroad award fund to benefit future education professionals – and their students. The scholarship’s first awardee, Chantal Warfield, fulfilled her study abroad goals by traveling to the United Kingdom for a five-week STEM and liberal studies program.

Susan Ryan and her 9-year-old cocker spaniel, Goldie, have become familiar faces at the NC State Veterinary Hospital since Goldie received a pacemaker three years ago. To honor the well-rounded compassionate care the staff has provided her and other clients -- and their beloved companions -- Ryan has become a donor.

Scholarship Endowment to Honor Funderlic

NC State's Department of Computer Science has announced creation of the Dr. Robert E. Funderlic Scholarship Endowment to honor the influential professor emeritus and former department head who passed away in 2009. The endowment, seeded by a lead pledge from alumnus Andy Smith, will generate merit-based scholarship funds, with a preference for computer science undergraduates at the junior level or higher who are at least eight years post-graduation from a high school in North Carolina.

Statistics Graduate Student Earns SAS Fellowship

First-year Ph.D. student Kasia Dobrzycka will receive the SAS Computational Statistics Fellowship by the Department of Statistics. The three-year fellowship, worth $40,000 per year, is awarded to students interested in augmenting their graduate education with computer science courses and software development experience.
