New Leader Begins Tenure in University Advancement

Jim Broschart has joined NC State as its new associate vice chancellor of university development, following a national search.

In his new role, Broschart provides direct supervision to the University Development division of University Advancement, including the offices of annual giving, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, and central major gifts, as well as development teams in those colleges with direct reporting relationships to University Development.

He will maintain close and collaborative working relationships with the chancellor and vice chancellor for University Advancement, the provost and deans, and with the chief development officers of colleges, foundations and units, including leaders at the Alumni Association and the Wolfpack Club, in order to shape university-wide development goals and maximize the productivity and results of all fundraising programs. Additionally, Broschart will serve as director of the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign and the vice president of the NC State University Foundation, Inc.

Prior to joining NC State, Broschart served as the vice president for advancement and campaign manager at Binghamton University. He led a team of 36 and was responsible for impressive growth in fundraising during his tenure. In addition to his background at Binghamton University, Broschart has served as vice president of college advancement at Hartwick College and on the development team at Syracuse University as director of regional advancement.

“Jim is an accomplished professional who brings nearly 20 years of comprehensive fundraising and management experience to NC State” said Brian Sischo, vice chancellor for university advancement. “There’s no doubt in my mind that he is the right person to help lead us through a successful midterm and eventual conclusion of the Campaign.”

Broschart earned a bachelor of science degree in health services administration from Ithaca College in 1989 and an MBA in marketing from Binghamton University School of Management in 1992.
