Why is Faculty & Staff Giving for NC State important now?
Through the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign for NC State, we anticipate remarkable changes and enhancements for our students, faculty and staff. Our collective commitment builds the necessary philanthropic momentum to go beyond our offices and into the community, across the state and beyond ― to help make NC State the great university we all envision.
The Faculty & Staff Giving effort provides all employees the opportunity to participate in this momentum through an annual gift, an endowed gift or through their estate. We hope employees will choose to contribute toward the area of the university that means the most to them and give an amount that works best for them.
I work here. Why should I give here?
Many employees already give!
NC State is a charitable organization that relies on philanthropic support just like places of worship, health care providers and medical research organizations as well as the arts, youth groups and scores of other worthy causes. In the 2015-16 academic year, nearly 1,000 employees collectively gave $2.3 million to NC State, earmarked for more than 400 different funds supporting every aspect of our campus.
The Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign for NC State publicly launched Oct. 28, 2017 and seeks philanthropic support from alumni, students, organizations and friends in our community. The Campaign creates a perfect framework for asking all faculty and staff to join others who are committed to providing the best educational environment for our students as well as ensuring our impact in North Carolina and beyond. The commitment of the NC State community is a strong vote of confidence for the future of our university.
Do I have freedom to direct my gift as I wish?
You can support any area of the university that interests you the most. Visit give.ncsu.edu to see the most popular funds: those that support the entire university like the University’s Greatest Needs Fund, those that support each of the colleges and programs and others that provide important extra dollars to programs and campus priorities. There are hundreds of funds to choose from, and the Office of Annual Giving staff are pleased to help you find the right fund.
Many employees enjoy supporting our athletic teams, and the Wolfpack Unlimited funds are available for philanthropic gifts. Currently, gifts to the WolfPack Club are not included in the Faculty & Staff Giving program.
What is the Employee Dependent’s Tuition Scholarship?
The NC State Employee Dependent’s Tuition Scholarship is offered to full-time, undergraduate students enrolled at NC State pursuing their first degree who are dependent children of full-time employees of NC State University. Up to $2,000 annually for a maximum of eight semesters at NC State is available for each eligible student. The scholarship is being funded through ongoing university and private support and is a featured fund in the Faculty & Staff Giving campaign. Annual gifts supplement endowment earnings to ensure funding for each eligible student. Learn more about eligibility and qualifications.
I can make a small gift ― will it really make a difference?
A gift of ANY amount makes a difference and has an immediate impact. Our collective participation sets the standard for university wide giving. Your annual gift, when joined with thousands of other gifts, helps NC State excel, enhances our reputation, and increases Wolfpack pride.
You can also consider a simple and easy monthly payroll deduction to make your gift more manageable. A gift as small as $10 a month in payroll deduction equals $120 per year. A gift of $83.34 per month equals $1,000 per year and makes you a Chancellor’s Circle member.
How can I make a gift?
Make a gift online, send a check, give through payroll deduction or contact our team of giving professionals to discuss the impact your gift could have on our university. Whether you choose to support an individual college or a specific program, there are many options for giving to NC State.

How can I make an honor or memorial gift?
Making your gift in honor of someone special or in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to make your gift to NC State even more meaningful. Be sure to note the person’s name and include the name and address of the person you would like notified of your gift. We do not mention the gift amount.
Will my gift to an NC State fund through the State Employees Combined Campaign count as my Faculty & Staff gift?
No. The State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) provides valuable assistance to dozens of worthy charities. We certainly encourage your participation with the SECC and while these charities include several NC State allocations, those gifts are not gifts to NC State.
Only gifts directly made to NC State will be credited and recorded in the database to be counted toward the Campaign and our annual reports.
One gift cannot “count” for both, as they are both separate legal entities. For example, choosing the JC Raulston Arboretum on the SECC gift form will generate a percentage of that gift for the Arboretum, but only a gift made directly to the Arboretum is recognized by the university or the Arboretum for membership purposes.
We hope our colleagues will support both initiatives and continue proving that NC State employees are passionate about supporting our university and the community.
