Their influence in natural resource education, research and service has been felt across North Carolina and around the world. Our graduates hold leadership positions in government, industry, education and natural resource advocacy. From our roots as leaders in forest management to the spreading canopy of natural resources disciplines the college pursues today, our world-class programs — ranging from forestry to paper science to recreational outreach — have made us the best resource for innovative and relevant solutions for the world’s ever-changing global and environmental community.
The Achieve! campaign will raise $35 million to:
- Turn learners into leaders through scholarships, fellowships and student enrichment activities that take students beyond the classroom and introduce them to critical business skills, technology-rich environments and global perspectives
- Build a university-wide center for geographic information sciences around our nationally renowned Center for Earth Observation
- Create a center for forest biomaterials and biotechnology where our world-class faculty in partnership with other university programs can create the trees, processing tools and forest products of the future
- Construct the American Home at NC State — a comprehensive, research and outreach, university collaborative led by the college and dedicated to designing, building and furnishing affordable, sustainable homes for today and tomorrow
- Expand our green infrastructure outreach to further support strategic community planning and sustainable management of waterways, wetlands, forests, parklands and open space in the face of burgeoning populations and development
- Establish the Cooperative Research Center for Tourism to provide relevant information vital to fuel tourism as the region’s economic engine for profitability, sustainable and community stability
