Since the university’s founding, we have trained students for careers in agriculture and the life sciences. Research programs ensure an abundant and safe food supply, while work in the life sciences leads to advances in health for humans, animals and plants.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, based in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, reaches out to citizens through centers in all 100 North Carolina counties and on the Cherokee Reservation. Through this network, Cooperative Extension delivers up-to-date information and support to farmers and agri-businesses, and offers a wide range of programs to improve the quality of life for North Carolina’s youth and their families.
Through the Achieve! campaign, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will raise $275 million in private gifts to further its 21st century land-grant mission of teaching, research, extension and public service. These gifts will allow us to better serve our students, North Carolina’s citizens and people throughout the world. Funds raised for CALS through the Achieve! campaign will be used for:
