Larry Clark Board Room in Friday Institute

Though their combined gift of $30,000, family, friends, and colleagues of Larry Clark, Professor Emeritus from the Mathematics, Science and Technology Education Department, have named Board Room #117 after the beloved professor, who also served as NC State’s associate provost.

Friday Tribute Wall

Longtime friends of the Fridays, Bill and Dottie Burns gave $150,000 for the Friday Institute Tribute and 1st Floor Corridor that was matched dollar for dollar by anonymous donors. They pledged an additional $25,000 for the Friday Tribute Wall. Since 2004, Bill Burns has also served on UNC Board of Governors and as an honorary co-chair for NC State Alumni Association Campaign for Excellence.

Margaret and Tanya Gayle Elementary Education Scholarship

Pam Jones and Rick Jones of Atlanta, Ga., pledged $25,000 to honor Pam’s mother and sister for their lifelong commitment to education by establishing the Margaret and Tanya Gayle Elementary Education Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a first-year student enrolled in the Elementary Education curriculum.

Dudley and Barbara Flood Gallery

Renee and Dr. Lee Stiff (’78), a professor in the Mathematics, Science and Technology Education Department, gave $125,000 to name the entrance gallery at the Friday Institute after Dudley and Barbara Flood. Dr. Stiff has known the Floods since childhood, as the couple taught in his hometown of Murfreesboro, NC. He notes, “During integration, Dr. Flood went around the state to ensure that the transition to integrated schools went smoothly. He made sure the state honored its pledge to give a quality education to each and every child. My wife Renee and I wanted to honor that legacy.”
